Days Itinerary

A warm welcome awaits as you arrive in Kochi. Our Ameera holidays tour guide escorts you to a waiting coach that will take you all the way across 140 kms of glorious green scenery to the cool hills of Munnar. On the way you can admire numerous waterfalls, lakes, streams and paddy fields as well as spice plantations making the air fragrant with the aroma of spices. Arrive in Munnar and check into your hotel room for some rest. Freshen up and set out to explore this town with its winding alleys and its colonial tea culture.

Munnar town has plenty of attractions but the real charms are all spread out in the neighbourhood. So, after breakfast, you set out to the Mattupetty Lake and the Dam passing by rolling tea gardens. Boating on the natural lake is a wonderful experience and from here we go on to Echo Point to shout and hear your voice coming back at you. Today’s trip also includes a visit to Kundala Lake and to Rajmalai reserve. The afternoon finds you in the midst of the Eravikulam National Park. This Park is a lovely preserve of nature and is home to the Nilgiri Thar, an endangered goat species as well as hundreds of animals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. On the way back we peek into the tea museum and then return to the hotel for some rest. You might want to go out in the evening after sunset to know how people pass the time.

Enjoy steaming hot nutritious Malayali breakfast and board the coach for the 110 km 3 hour drive to Thekkady home to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Check into your resort lodge and then set out on a unique boat safari on Periyar Lake, the best way to observe elephants, tigers, leopards, amphibians and birds in this wonderful reserve. Periyar is a dense tropical forest and the air echoes with the call of animals and birds as you navigate the waters and capture images on your camera. In the evening you return to your room for an overnight stay plumb in the lap of Nature.

Day dawns to the chirps of birds and you sit down to a hearty breakfast after which it is time to leave for Alleppey, a 130 km 3 hour drive over scenic landscape. Alleppey is the Venice of the East, its waterways dotted with hundreds of houseboats. You board one houseboat to experience life first hand. The boat navigates the waters and you can see the waterways bustling with activities. This is a different world and an experience you will not forget in a hurry. Dine on typical Kerala style cuisine and spend the night on the houseboat with the gentle motion of the waters lulling you to sleep.

You wish you could stay for a few more days but it is time to depart after breakfast for Kovalam. The 130 km ride takes you across some of the most breathtaking scenery and you arrive in Kovalam check into your room after which you set out for the beach. The beach is one of the busiest in Kerala and also the most popular. Perhaps you will be bold enough to try one of the masseurs waiting to relieve you of stress or simply laze about.

Breakfast and then set out for Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, where you can watch the sun set into the sea. Kanyakumari is also known for its Vivekananda Rock, named after Swami Vivekananda and the most popular Kumariamman Temple, dedicated to Parvati who, according to legend, waited for Shiva to come and carry her away. You visit in the Thiruvalluvar statue and tour the Gandhi Memorial. Guganathaswamy Temple, dating back 1000 years and a fine example of Chola architecture will leave you spellbound. Lastly there is just time enough to take in the Vattakottai or circular fort built by King Marthanda Varma, before it is time to go to the point where people congregate to watch the sunset. After that you return to Kovalam for the night.

A pleasant breeze wakes you up in time to watch the sunrise after which you sit down to a hearty breakfast. Thereafter it is time to leave for Trivandrum on a short 18 km journey. We take a city tour that gets you to the famous Padmanabha Swamy temple where you pray before the huge idol of Lord Vishnu. The temple with its stone carvings and pillars is simply awesome. We then proceed to the Kuthiramalika Palace and you get a view of the lifestyle of Southern Kings. Visit the Veli tourist village, the museum, art gallery and then spend the evening at Shangumugham Beach. Dine on street food and spend the night in Trivandrum.
