Indore is the largest of cities in the state of Madhya Pradesh and stands along the banks of two rivers; River Khan and River Saraswati. Indore enjoys the reputation of being the state’s most planned cities. The city is steeped in various architectural marvels & rich history. The city also enjoys the reputation of the state’s ‘commercial capital’. Whether you are a history buff or a Nature lover, Indore has everything in it to satiate your wander lust. In other words, the city can indeed let you enjoy, unwind, admire and learn all at the same time. Days Itinerary

On reaching Indore railway station, you will be taken to your pre-booked hotel. After checking in and freshening up we proceed for a short city tour of Indore visiting places like Khajrana Ganesh Mandir, Lal Bagh Palace, Kanch Mandir, Rajwada, Central Museum and Chokhi Dhani. The first of our sightseeing destinations for the day; Khajrana Ganesh Mandir is one of the most opulent Ganesh temples of the country and was constructed under the initiative of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar Dynasty. The deity of Lord Ganesha enshrined here has eyes encrusted with diamonds. After paying our tribute to Lord Ganesha at the temple, we proceed to visit our next sightseeing destination; the Lal Bagh Palace, the once upon a time royal residence of the kings of the Holkar dynasty.

The palace covers an area of about 28 acres and stands out as a real edifice of unmatched grandeur. After palace visit, we move on to our next destination for the day; the Kanch Mandir; a famed Jain Temple of Indore built by Seth Hukumchand Jain which is made out of glass. It exhibits marvelous detailing on the glasses and beautifully adorned glass panels portraying the various aspects pertaining to Jainism. Next, we visit the Rajwada palace; a 7 storied monument of unrivalled grandeur.

The architecture of this opulent palace dating back to nearly 200 years is a fine fusion of Maratha, Mughal and French architectures. After Rajwada we move on to our next stop; Central Museum also called as Indore Museum. This is a dual galleried museum showcasing artifacts dating back to 5000 BC. After Central Museum, we visit our next and last destination for the day; Chokhi Dhani; an ethnic resort village allowing us to get a sneak peek into the authentic culture and traditions of the region. The activities you can enjoy at the village are camel rides, puppet shows, elephant rides, magic shows, Folk dances. After having visited Chokhi Dhani we’ll return to hotel for dinner and night stay.

Next day post breakfast we proceed for the rest of the sightseeing of Indore, visiting places such as Chhatris, Mahatma Gandhi Hall, Nehru Park and Patalpani. Today we start our city tour by visiting the Chhatris which were the cremation grounds of the kings and queens of the Holkar dynasty. The Chhatris come with intricate adornments and several temples constructed around them. Next, we visit the Mahatma Gandhi Hall; a magnificent town hall constructed by famed architect Mr. Charles Frederick Stevens in an Indo-Gothic architectural style. Previously, referred to as ‘King Edward Hall’, it was renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Hall in the year 1948. After Gandhi Hall, we proceed to visit the Nehru Park; a centrally located Children’s park dating back to the pre-independence era.

The park comes with verdant greenery, variety of trees and flowering plants, a swimming pool and many wonderful rides such as mini train, battery run cars etc. After Nehru Park, we move towards Patalpani; the last of our Indore sightseeing destinations. Patalpani Waterfalls is a scenic destination with a roaring waterfall toppling down from about 300 meters height. The waterfall is located amid dense verdure and is an ideal photo stopover in Indore. Post sightseeing we return to hotel for lunch and rest. In the evening we go for some shopping in one of the most happening shopping hubs of Indore; the Sarafa Bazaar. It is an iconic jewelry market of Indore consisting in several stalls selling vibrantly colored imitation jewelries and brassware. Also, a plethora of street foods sold here make Sarafa bazaar a foodie’s paradise.
