The next day’s destination after breakfast is Alleppey. The picturesque destination is also famous by other names like “Venice of the East”, and Alappuzha. This little town is filled with an extensive network of canals, backwaters, and canals. The rich history of the town suggests that Diwan Raja Kesavadas was significant in carving out the town.
Yet another feather to the crown of Kerala Tourism is the Alleppey Houseboat Cruise. The land is known for trade since the ancient times, hence, the boats were used for carrying rice and other articles that were ferried. In the present times these vessels, (formerly known as Kettuvallam) have been modified into modern houseboats which have accelerated tourist attraction manifold. So much is the popularity of these houseboats that Alleppey is known for these and also the backwaters. After a memorable halt at the houseboat and a palatable dinner, the next morning offers a refreshing breakfast on the houseboat, before checking out of the houseboat at around 0900 hrs.
